In 1997 Matthew R. Lawrence created the Canadian Improv Showcase with the intention of offering a creative outlet for Canadian talent. Canadians have been a surging force in the world of entertainment, especially in the world of comedy, for many years and he wanted to offer a place to nurture up and coming talent. Without the confines of a script he hoped he could provide a place where actors could play and experiment as they trudged through life as an aspiring actor.

The result was a fantastic forum full of amazing talent.

From those meek beginnings the group has undergone a great deal of change and the professional touring company you now see is the end result: fantastic talent offering amazing entertainment.

The Canadian Improv Showcase has, to date, performed over 450 shows worldwide and are one of a very few improv companies that can honestly boast that they can perform for any audience. Whether it be a rowdy adult audience or a group of elementary school children, a crowd of seniors or a family affair, a bunch of high school students or a corporate board meeting - no matter the audience the Canadian Improv Showcase specializes in offering a customizable, fully adaptable, interactive experience that is totally original every time!
